LGBTQIA+ and Intersectionality

Details: Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at UMSL

Session Description: This workshop/panel aims to educate and equip counselors in training with understanding of the concept of intersectionality and diversity for LGBTQIA+ clients with real life intersectional experiences, work experiences as counselors and tools to better understand and apply with LGBTQIA+ client’s experiences and to enhance the work with LGBTQIA+ clients.

Learning Objectives:
After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand more about diverse and intersectional experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.
  2. Learn about the concept of intersectionality and how to apply to the work with LGBTQIA+ clients.
  3. Use the tools that incorporate intersectionality and how to apply and utilize them with LGBTQIA+ clients.
